There’s a lot of CPSU work being done across the ABC presently. A more detailed update will be sent but for now, here’s a snapshot of things that are happening:

  • Staff Elected Director: Laura Tingle has officially taken up the mantle for ABC Staff Elected Director. We look forward to working with Laura during her term. CPSU Delegates will also be arranging a card and gift for Dr Jane Connors to thank her for her service to ABC staff on ABC Board over the last five years.

  • Regional Realignment: ABC management have finally responded to the concerns raised by Regional members in early April . By the look of it, the CPSU’s letter has prompted more top-down communication with frontline staff about the changes and there is some new information in the letter. However, it is a worry that members have been kept in the dark about what is happening to their work area since December. Hopefully, management does a better job communicating meaningful information moving forward.

  • ABC Archives meeting tomorrow to discuss ongoing issues: CPSU reps are meeting with Technology management tomorrow morning to discuss the various problems with the Archives restructure. Archives members who wish to attend the meeting should email [email protected]

  • Redundancies and Restructures coming: The CPSU understands from various sources that a sizeable number of ABC redundancies may be announced after the Federal Budget/this financial year. CPSU Delegate training on the relevant sections of the agreement have been scheduled for next week. Changes affecting ‘Insiders’ and ‘Outsiders’ have already been announced. Ahead of these announcements CPSU members are reminded that if you are contacted to attend a one-on-one meeting with your manager in coming weeks, you should ask your manager to confirm what the nature of the meeting is and that we recommend that you take a support person with you to the meeting.

  • New ABC Staff Agreement: The new ABC Enterprise Agreement was lodged with the Fair Work Commission on Friday (which was the full fourteen days allowable after the vote outcome). Once the FWC approves the agreement, it will come into effect and pay increases can be paid. The CPSU will also be providing members with Know Your Rights fact sheets on different parts of the new agreement.

For more information on these matters, please contact your local CPSU Delegate or Organiser or email us at [email protected]
