As part of the campaign against the government's unfair new workers' compensation laws, the CPSU has decided to introduce its own 'income maintenance insurance' for union members. The idea is to provide a 'safety net' while the campaign for a better deal plays out. It means union members no longer face financial ruin if they are seriously injured on a journey on their way to or from work which would previously have been covered. This cover will be provided freely and automatically to CPSU members only from 26 August 2007.
