3200 face axe in savings spree; CPSU attacks Budget job cuts; Razor cuts not so deep; God created aliens, says Vatican...

3200 face axe in savings spree: Around 3200 positions are to be cut from the Australian Public Service following cost savings programs introduced by the new Commonwealth Government and confirmed in the 2008-09 Federal Budget.

CPSU attacks Budget job cuts: CPSU National Secretary Stephen Jones says cuts to the Public Service in the budget will mean thousands of job losses in Canberra. More on this ABC story here.

Razor cuts not so deep: Wayne Swan may have brought an end to the "easy money" attitude of the Howard government in its latter years. But don't be fooled into thinking these are big cuts, cautions Mark Davis in The Sydney Morning Herald.

God created aliens, says Vatican: The search for extraterrestrial life does not contradict belief in God, the pope's chief astronomer said on Tuesday, adding that some aliens might even be innocent of the original sin. Really.

Let us know below what you think of these stories.
