Going Public: A conference for women in the public sector

24 June 2008, 12:53pm

The CPSU is proud to be an official supporter of the fourth annual Going Public conference, which will be held on 20 - 21 November in Sydney.

What is Going Public?

Going Public is the leading event for women in the public sector and politics in Australia. The conference unites women to hear about the life stories of others. It enables them to network with elected representatives and other females working in local, state or federal government. Importantly, it allows delegates to learn from other women's experiences and take away practical strategies for their own workplaces.

Cutting-edge speakers include:

  • Jenny Macklin - Minister for Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs
  • Dr. Carmen Lawrence - former Premier of Western Australia
  • Julia Burns - Executive Director, Australian Government Office for Women
  • Louise Persse - CPSU National President
  • Catherine Fox - AFR BOSS magazine and co-author of Better than S#x: How a Whole Generation Got Hooked on Work
  • Jillian Skinner - Member for North Shore; Deputy Leader of the NSW Liberal Party
  • Bev Manton - Chair, NSW Aboriginal Land Council

Who should attend?

The conference is a great opportunity for women at all levels of state and federal public sector, union representatives, women in local government, women in local, state and federal politics, business women, academics, journalists and consultants.
