RET - professional, rewarded and fair

6 August 2008, 12:08pm

Thanks to all the RET staff who provided valuable feedback on your CPSU bargaining survey. The clear message from your contribution to our bargaining survey is that you are dedicated professionals seeking to deliver quality services and want to be rewarded, supported and have flexibility in your working life.

Your union is keen to help you secure an agreement that acknowledges your aspirations by ensuring that your voice in bargaining reflects your professional positive approach to your work.

Your feedback will now be collated and put into a draft CPSU bargaining claim that will form the basis of negotiations with management for your remuneration and conditions. Before we enter negotiations we need to start from a position of strength. This means that for the CPSU to support you in your efforts to secure the CA you want, you need to join your union. You can join online here.

You said your top priorities are:

  1. Work life balance eg. flexible working hours
  2. A pay increase at least above CPI
  3. Maintaining childcare: 62.03% support the maintenance of child care facilities as provided at Industry House
  4. Performance recognition

You also said:

  • 89.74% support Redundancy provisions being in line with the APS standard.
  • 76.42% want staff with special needs be provided with parking facilities. (i.e. disability, late term pregnancy)
  • 84.81% support access to study leave arrangements that provide a genuine and clear entitlement in the agreement.

78.95% support the CPSU Core Claim - Setting pay and Conditions across APS

Key features of the claim include:

  • Making sure you’ll be listened to and access to you negotiators
  • Attraction and retention of skilled workers
  • A balanced working life
  • Improved pay and superannuation
  • Ensuring you are treated with respect
  • Protecting your terms and conditions

What happens now?

We will shortly be issuing a copy of the draft CPSU bargaining claim for your consideration and comment. Once finalised, we will put the draft claim to CPSU members for endorsement before we can present it to management.

A successful agreement is up to you - get involved!
