FaHCSIA bargaining claim - yes or no?

5 August 2008, 6:57pm
Have a say, and participate to the CPSU Endorsement Ballot Have a say, and participate to the CPSU Endorsement Ballot

The CPSU has run meetings over the past two weeks to discuss your draft bargaining claim with all staff. Through this process we have received some excellent information about what you want. The CPSU is now asking members to vote on whether to endorse this claim.

Fair Pay Claim – achieving the APS average

The CPSU has had strong feedback that pay rates are your key issue. FaHCSIA pay rates are below the public service average and the CPSU agrees that this needs to be addressed. To this end we have amended your bargaining claim seeking at least the APS average in this agreement and not 5% pa as previously stated. Any pay rise must be achievable. The Government has historically required that pay rises achieved through collective agreements must be fully funded within an agency’s budget and offset by productivity gains. The CPSU will pursue the best possible pay rise on behalf of FaHCSIA staff but will need your help to do this.

  • If you are not a member yet you can join online now
  • If you have ideas on improving productivity email fahcsiamembers@cpsu.org.au

Your conditions

Through our meetings you have told us that you do not want to trade off any conditions. We have received excellent feedback detailing what you would like to see achieved. These include in areas of:

  • Attracting and retaining of employees
  • Maintaining/enhancing Remote Locality Provisions
  • Health and wellbeing initiatives
  • Fair and equitable flex and/or TOIL provisions for all staff

The claim does not incorporate every idea that has been sent to your bargaining team however your ideas are valuable and will be utilised by your team at the negotiating table.
