CSL update

25 June 2008, 9:37am

Pay increase on its way, Additional Payment matter, Shift worker entitlements, Health and Safety...

Your pay rises

CSL staff will receive a 4.5% pay increase from 1 July 2008, which is the final increase of your current union-negotiated workplace agreement. With living costs on the up, maintaining decent pay and conditions has never been as important. If you’re not a union member – its time to think about joining. Join CPSU by calling 1300 137636 or click here.

Additional Payment matter in the Commission this week

A dispute regarding the Additional Payment to 12 hour shift workers in Albumin/IG and Chemistry at Broadmeadows resumes in the Industrial Relations Commission this week. CPSU and the company will put forward witnesses, with the Commission handing down a decision at a later date. CPSU is arguing for a straightforward interpretation of the relevant clause (Part 2, clause 12.8) in your current agreement. CSL and its legal team are defending an interpretation that results in shift workers receiving 2.9 hours of double time every fortnight, instead of 3.2 hours as your agreement states.

Shift workers - would you know if you’ve received your correct pay?

Do you always check your payslips to ensure you get paid what you are owed? It seems many staff don’t based on recent investigations by CPSU into a possible case of non-payment of penalties. It always pays to check your payslips – if you find something questionable, then ask your supervisor for clarification and contact the CPSU (see details / feedback slip below). Public Holidays and RDOs Do you always receive your entitlement to a day off where a public holiday falls on an RDO? CPSU is speaking to CSL about how the agreement applies in this case – again let CPSU know if you’ve got a query about this issue.

Health and Safety Representatives

CPSU recently conducted the election process for new Heath & Safety Representative (HSR) positions in Fluvax Production, Parkville. HSRs play an important role in ensuring staff views are heard in the ongoing process of maintaining a safe workplace. If your department lacks an elected HSR or is need of fresh elections, please contact CPSU.
