CSA staff endorse 2008-2011 Union Collective Agreement

19 June 2008, 2:36pm

CSA staff across the country have voted overwhelmingly in support of the 2008-2011 CSA Union Collective Agreement (UCA). Almost 75% of staff participated in the ballot with a massive 91% endorsing it.

What we won

  • 12% pay increase over three years (6% payable in the first 4 months – 2% on registration and a further 4% pay on 1 July)
  • an extra 0.5% in July 2009 and 0.5% in July 2010 if agreed corporate outcomes are achieved
  • $500 bonus when the agreement is lodged
  • staff will also be eligible for a further $600 training bonus in August 2008, upon completion of relevant Scheme Reform training
  • maintained conditions and entitlements in the agreement
  • importantly, the 1 March ‘date of effect’ means that regardless of how long management approval processes take, staff will be back paid from 1 March.

How we won it

Congratulations to all members for supporting your CPSU bargaining team in delivering the agreement. A special thank you must go to your CPSU elected bargainers Phil Burroughs and Emma White. As well as foregoing seeing their loved ones for extended periods throughout the negotiations, they showed great resolve and stuck to the tasks members gave them at the start of this process: ie they kept conditions in the agreement and negotiated a competitive pay package. This was made possible through the support of our fantastic delegates, activist networks and all of our members.

What happens next?

Once the agreement is signed by the CPSU and CSA it will be lodged with the office of Workplace Services where it will be scrutinised to ensure it meets the Government’s ‘no disadvantage test’ before it becomes registered. Once it is registered it will become the CSA Agreement and staff will receive the pay-rises and bonuses in the following pay period.

Your CPSU representatives look forward to working with members and CSA management to ensure a smooth transition and implementation of the new agreement.
