Your union is progressing important work at IP as the process for your next collective agreement continues.
Your CPSU organiser and delegates met with management earlier last week at the latest meeting of the Workplace Committee. Key issues include the CA policy process, staff recruitment policy and remote based examination study. CPSU is keen to hear your comments with a view to forming a union position to management.
What was discussed?
Collective Agreement Policy Process – Some areas of policy need to be changed to be consistent with the pending CA. Areas containing substantial changes will be given priority. These include: allowances, leave, flex, part time work, home based work and working from remote locations. Draft policies on these matters will be drafted within one month of implementation of the new CA.
Staff Recruitment Policy
Your union made recommendations to this policy to ensure it reflects the pending CA, particularly relating to clause references for higher duties allowance.
Remote Based Examination hubs Feasibility Study:
This pilot study is currently limited to patent examiners and will be trialled in Melbourne. Some out-posted workers are experiencing telecommunication problems. The operation of the Melbourne hub is yet to be considered, i.e. selection criteria and staffing. Your union representatives look forward to further consultation
Other items raised:
Air conditioning - 3 month trial, starts 10 June, temperature to drop by 1 degree
Mental Health courses run by H&S committee are popular, more will be scheduled.
Continuation of developing 360 degree feedback process, reward/recognition process and state of the service survey.
What about the CA?
Currently on release to all staff to consider for seven days.
To proceed to an all staff vote which will be held open for five working days - scrutineered by CPSU.
Lodgement with the Workplace Authority for no disadvantage test - timeframe uncertain.
7 day period before date of effect.
What do you think?
CPSU is eager to hear from staff who may like to comment on these issues so we can accurately represent your view to management. Contact:
